To become a VNO, there are significant costs associated with the capabilities required to operate and monitor the network. The VNO program requires the purchase of a VSAT Systems iDirect VNO Package, which includes dedicated line cards, protocol processors, NMS servers and network management software. The VNO will contract with VSAT Systems for lease of transponder bandwidth. Since customer needs vary widely, our VNO solution is designed to reflect the inherent flexibility of the iDirect platform. We provide varied levels of functionality to meet the needs of your customers with different requirements, or at different stages of deployment.
The VNO will maintain a sufficient inventory of merchandise and spare parts. Having a technically competent staff to provide Tier I support also requires training and technical expertise. The VNO must have installation technicians that have been certified by VSAT Systems trainers.VNOs without strong technical competencies must receive product training and training for technical support employees. A VNO can expect to make a significant investment in initial inventory purchases and training.
The costs to get started vary, but a significant investment in time, financial and other resources can be expected. The total upfront cost as a VSAT Systems VNO exceeds $100,000 USD but this comes along with greater rewards, control and flexibility of the networks you get to operate. If your business model does not support this level of initial commitment, you may be better served as a VSAT Systems VAR. You can always convert to a VSAT Systems VNO at a later date and take your customers with you.
