Satellite teleports – the heart of satellite communication networks

The VSAT Systems teleport is located at our company headquarters in Akron, Ohio. While teleports can be used for a variety of purposes, ours have been built from the ground-up exclusively for IP communications. Our teleports form an important part of our core infrastructure assets enabling us to provide coverage throughout North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Teleport facility

VSAT Systems operates on two satellites: G-28 and T11N. We own and operate three teleport dishes, transmitters and various high-tech control systems as a part of our teleport infrastructure. The high power teleport dishes are 6.3 Meter Compact Cassegrain Ku-Band dishes. One antenna is pointed toward G-28 - 271E 89W and the other towards T11N - 322.5E 37.5W. The third antenna is a spare antenna that can be pointed toward either of the satellites. Our multipurpose teleport facility has built-in redundancy. We have a spare teleport dish, UPS and a generator for back up. Our networks are connected to the U.S. Internet backbone through diverse physical paths and providers.

Features:

  • Three 6.3 M Antennas, 100 Watt HPA
  • MGE Galaxy 4000 65KvA UPS
  • Two diesel powered generators: 85kW Caterpillar Olympian and 80kW Generac
  • Two fiber backbone connections via diverse physical paths and operators

Secure facilities

At VSAT Systems, we take physical and data security at our facilities seriously. We have 24/7 building security with motion-detecting cameras and physical barriers to maintain a secure environment.

Features

  • Our teleports are physically manned
  • Motion detection alarm system employed in critical controlled areas
  • Redundant DVRs monitoring interior and exterior of facility
  • Biometric controlled access to facility and key areas
  • External physical barriers for protection of facility and teleport equipment
  • All electronic data is backed up routinely and stored off site

What are teleports?

Satellite teleports are permanent satellite uplink facilities located throughout the world which are used for maintaining constant communication with the orbiting satellites (i.e. providing connectivity between the ground and the space segment). The teleport infrastructure is the critical link that facilitates seamless transfer of information to and from the end user’s computer network.
