Run VPNs over satellite without sacrificing performance

Until recently, the high latency inherent in geosynchronous satellite connections presented a significant obstacle to efficient Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections.

The low latency of VSAT Systems network makes it practical to implement IPsec VPNs across the space segment. Experience shows IPsec VPNs run 20 to 40% slower than unencrypted connections over the circuit.

VSAT Systems offers two 3DES alternatives that only encrypt the data, leaving the IP and TCP headers accessible. With the headers available, the encrypted packets are compatible with all types of satellite modems and all methods of TCP acceleration.

The VSR-30’s Selective Layer Encryption provides 3DES security and the functionality of traditional point-to-point IPsec VPN tunnels without sacrificing performance.

SkySecure, a 3DES and AES client/server VPN, controls access to specific TCP/IP applications and internal resources. Secure connections via satellite Internet - The VSAT Systems Solution

VSAT Systems satellite Internet platforms are friendly with many VPN solutions. Customers can use their current VPN solution with our equipment but the increased latency of the satellite will decrease performance. You can overcome these problems by using VPN equipment designed for satellite, such as the Encore End-to-End solution. If your requirements do not allow for adding additional equipment, we offer a hosted SuperVPN solution.

The SuperVPN solution is a hybrid Private Network/VPN solution. The satellite portion of the trip is outside the VPN tunnel, but is protected by the satellite protocols and a segregated Private Network. This Private Network is securely connected to a VPN device located in the VSAT Systems data center. The VPN device communicates with a compatible device at the VAR/VNO/end user's headquarters. This hybrid solution effectively overcomes the performance limitations of VPN-over-satellite.

The SuperVPN solution is a hosted solution managed by VSAT Systems. As a VAR or VNO, you may colocate VPN equipment in the VSAT Systems data center so you can implement similar solutions for your customers.
