Communications is always a problem during a disaster and it is definitely one of the urgent needs for ongoing disaster response efforts in Haiti. With the collapse of traditional channels of communication in Haiti, terrestrial networks have either stopped working or are highly congested. This is where satellite communications steps in to restore connections and aid relief efforts following such unfortunate events.
Immediately after the first reports of the shocking disaster emerged, we have been assisting government and aid agencies throughout the U.S., Canada, Central America and the Caribbean to restore communications in Haiti via satellite. Our satellite Internet disaster response solutions are currently being used by medical aid workers and relief agencies to coordinate logistics, and by humanitarian agencies to provide Internet and voice services to people in Haiti to let their loved ones know they’re OK.
At VSAT Systems, we know that every second is invaluable for disaster response personnel working round the clock in regions such as Port au-Prince. That is why we have designed reliable, rugged satellite solutions for rapid deployment by anyone in your mobile command center. Our high speed IP services can be used for data transmission, VoIP, video, wireless hotspot setup, etc.
VSAT Systems has fixed and mobile satellite broadband Internet systems ready to go at a moment's notice.
The mobile equipment comes ready to mount, with an auto-pointing antenna system on an existing vehicle, or in a ready-to-go flyaway case or tripod, or on a mobile communications trailer.
We offer fixed dishes of sizes 1.2m or 1.8m. These dishes are pole ready or shipped with a non-penetrating roof mount.

Locations in Haiti are served by us via T11N and G28 satellites. You will need a 1.2m satellite dish with a 3 or 6 Watt BUC to establish reliable IP communications in most locations. For higher service levels (i.e. higher speeds and data), you will need a 1.8m dish with a 6 Watt BUC. Use the table below as a reference to determine your line of sight based on your coordinates in Haiti.
